DB, as a freight forwarder and shipping agent, offers the transport of your goods. This privacy policy applies to these services and the related platforms.

With who do we share your personal data?
We share your personal data with third parties such as agents at your destination and other partners, depending on the services you use. We share your data:

  • To the extent necessary to carry out our business activities, provide our services, and enable our partner services. This may include executing certain transports, such as air freight, and communicating with you regarding our services;

  • To maintain our agreement with you, if applicable. For example, if you have not paid for our services, we may share your information with a debt collection agency;

Data sharing within the company occurs solely for the purpose of our business activities, our service to you, and as described in this privacy statement.

Where do we process your personal data?
Your personal data are primarily processed by our staff at our office in the Netherlands. Depending on your location and if applicable, certain data may be processed by local agents (such as in China, India, etc), for example, for local handling or local marketing campaigns.

To the extent that we transfer personal data to a country outside the European Union or an international organization, we ensure that this only occurs to countries and organizations that provide adequate protection for your data and rights in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), or if otherwise permitted under the GDPR.

How long do we keep your personal data saved ?
We retain your personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes for which they were collected or used and/or as required by law.
If you wish to have your data deleted, please contact our office. Upon request, we will delete your personal data without undue delay, except for information that we are legally required to retain. For example, we are legally obliged to retain data such as copies of invoices for seven years.

Legal basic for date processing
We collect and process your personal data only when we have a legal basis for doing so. The following legal bases apply:

  • Processing is necessary for the performance of your contract;
  • Processing is necessary for the legitimate interests pursued by us, for example, i) to conduct our business activities; ii) for certain forms of direct marketing and profiling; iii) to archive information about your account so that you can reactivate it at a later date; iv) to detect or prevent fraud or misuse of our services; or v) for the security of our network and systems;
  • Processing is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, such as the retention obligation for administrative data or sharing certain information after a police order for criminal investigation;

If processing is based on consent, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. In that case, we will terminate the processing of your data concerned. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

The decisions regarding the purposes and means of processing personal data are primarily made centrally by DB, which acts as the data controller for the processing of this personal data.
